AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING CHAPTER 15 OF
THE LYNWOOD MUNICIPAL CODE, TO ADOPT BY
REFERENCE THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE OF 1982
The City Council of the City of Lynwood DOE5 HEREBY ORDAIN
as follows:
S_e_c_t_ia_n__1: Section 15-1 of the Lynwood City Code is hereby
amended as follows:
"Section 15.1 Housing Code Adopted; Purpose.
"For the purpose of providing requirements for the
protection of life, limb, health, property, safety, and welfare
of the general public and the owners and occupants of residential
buildings within the City, there is herby adopted by the City
Council that certain code known as the Uniform Housing Code
recommended by the International Conference of Building
Officials, being particularly the 1982 Edition, with the
exceptions identified in Section 15-2. Nat less than three (3)
copies of the code have been and now are filed in the office of
the city clerk, and with the exceptions of Section 15-2 the same
is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at
length herein, and from the date on which this section shall take
effect the adopted provisions of the Uniform Housing Code shall
be controlling within the City.
S_e_c_t_io_n__2_. Section 15-2 of the Lynwood City Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section 15-2 Appeals
"(a> The Lynwood Planning Commission is hereby designated as
the Housing Advisory and Appeals board pursuant to Section 203 of
the Housing Code for- the purpose of providing final
interpretation of the provisions of the Uniform Housing Code and
hearing appeals from the decisions of the City Building Official
regarding compliance with the Uniform Housing Code.
"(b) Appeals to the Hoard shall be processed in the manner
provided for in Section 1201 of the Housing Cade. Appeals from
the decisions of the Hoard shall be made to the City Council in
accordance with Section 25-29 of the Lynwood City Code."
S_e_c_t_io_n_'3_: Severability. If any section, subsection,
subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this
ordinance or the application thereof to any person or place, is
for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the
decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this
ordinance of its application to other persons or places. The
City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this
ordinance, and each section thereof, irrespective of the fact
that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivisins,
sentences, clauses, phrases, or portions, or the application
thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section_4: The City Cler4~ is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same
to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general
circulation, printed, published, and circulated in the City of
Lynwood.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said
