HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2014-06-19 Bluemont concerts Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release Bluemont Concert Series Returns to Downtown Leesburg on Sunday Evenings This Summer Leesburg, VA (June 19, 2014) – Bluemont Concerts will bring its popular outdoor concert series back to downtown Leesburg on Sunday evenings this summer, beginning on June 29, 2014. The concerts will be held on the lawn of the Loudoun County Courthouse, at 18 West Market Street and will begin at 7pm. West Market Street, from King Street to Church Street, will close at 5pm prior to each concert and will remain closed until the concert concludes. The schedule of performers for the 2014 Bluemont Concert Series in Leesburg is: • June 29, 2014 – Africa Meets Appalachia with Cheick Hamala Diabate and Danny Knicely • July 6, 2014 – Hard Swimmin’ Fish, a blues quartet • July 13, 2014 – Dixie Power Trio, a New Orleans funk ensemble • July 20, 2014 – Mark Newtown and Steve Thomas, a bluegrass duo • July 27, 2014 – Solas, a Celtic band • August 3, 2014 – Pan Masters, a steel drum orchestra All are welcome at these family-oriented events and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on and a picnic to enjoy before the show. There is a requested donation of $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, and $2 for kids twelve and under. Proceeds go to support Bluemont's year-round Artist-In-Education program in area schools. No pets, alcohol or smoking are allowed. In the event of bad weather, the concerts will be held indoors at the Leesburg United Methodist Church’s Asbury Hall, located at 107 West Market Street.
