ORDINANCE N0. 1187
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD EXTENDING THE TERMS AND PROVISIONS OF
INTERIM URGENCY ZONING ORDINANCE N0. 1179,
PROHIBITING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AMUSEMENT ARCADES
AND VIDEO GAME MACHINES FOR WHICH A USE PERMIT HAS
NOT BEEN ISSUED, PENDING COMPLETION OF A STUDY AND
REPORT BY THE PLANNING DIVISION, PERTAINING TO THE
PROPER REGULATIONS FOR SUCH BUSINESSES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNV400D DOES HEREBY FIND,
RESOLVE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood does
hereby find and determine that pursuant to the terms and provisions
of Section 65858 of the California Government Code, the City Council,
on September 21, 1982, enacted Interim Urgency Zoning Ordinance No.
1179 prohibiting the establishment of amusement arcades and video game
machines in the City;
SECTION 2. The City Council further finds and determines
that in accordance with ordinance No. 1179 it is necessary to extend
the terms and provisions of said ordinance for an additional term of
eight (8) months, pending completion of a study and report by the
Planning Division, thereby terminating on September 21, 1983.
SECTION 3. The City Council further finds that all objec-
tions to said extension should be overruled, and it is therefore or-
dered that Interim Urgency Zoninq Ordinance No. 1179 be extended an
additional term of eight (8) months.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ordinance and shall file a certified copy thereof with the Plan-
ning Commission.
SECTION 5. Severability. In an section, subsection, sub-
division, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance, or the
application thereof to any person or place, is for any reason held to
be invalid or unconstituional by the decision of any court of compe-
tent jurisdiction, such decision .shall not affect the validity of the
.,remaining portions of the ordinance or its application to other per-
sons or places. The City Council hereby declares that it would have
adopted this ordinance, and each section, subsection, subdivision,
sentence, clause, phrase or portion thereof, irrespective of the fact
that any one or more sections, subsections, .subdivisions, sentences,
clauses, phrases, or portions of the application thereof to any person
or place be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to
be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circu-
lation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Lynwood.
First read at a regular meeting of the. City Council of
said City held on the 7th day of December 1982,
and finally ordered published .at a regular meeting of said Council
held on the 21st day of December , 1982.
