CREATING A CARTERET VETERANS COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the Borough of Carteret finds that creating ~
Veterans Affairs Committee will help insure the preservation of important veteran
memorials and provide for other veteran programs in the Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Governing Body has determined that the establishment of a Carteret
Veterans Affairs Committee can help to preserve and enhance the veteran's memorials
and veterans activities located within the Borough of Carteret in honor of those residents
that serve in the armed services of the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's veterans contribute greatly to many aspects of the Borough's
community life and are deserving of recognition and honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret that there shall be created a Carteret Veterans Affairs Committee for the
purpose of providing for the proper preservation of local veteran memorials and other
veteran programs throughout the community as follows:
Estabh'shment.
There shall be a Carteret Veterans Affairs Committee in the Borough consisting
of seven (7) members who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and
consent of the Borough Council. Each member shall serve without compensation.
Members. Terms.
The Carteret Veterans Affairs Committee shall include one (1) member of the
Borough Council who shall serve a one (1) year term. Four (4) members shall be
from the Veterans Alliance: one (1) from the CWV; one (1) from the JWV; one
(1) from the VFW; and one (1) from the American Legion, each of whom shall
serve a four (4) year term. Additionally, there shall be two (2) other public
members who shall serve a two (2) year term.
