RESOLUTION OPPOSING VERIZON RATE INCREASE
WHEREAS, Verizon is proposing to revise and increase its rates for basic telephone
service for residential and business customers in accordance with its present tariff filing
with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as required by law; and
WHEREAS, Verizon's proposed rate increase would unduly burden the residents and
businesses in the Borough of Carteret; and
WHEREAS, many of the Borough's residents are elderly and can not reasonably bear
the added burden of increased costs for basic telephone service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, and State of New Jersey, hereby oppose the rate
increase for basic telephone service for residential and business customers proposed by
Verizon.
BE IT FURTItER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the New
Jersey Board of Public Utilities urging them to reject Verizon's proposed rate increase.
