The City Council of the City of Lynwood DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. Section 2.00 of the Zoning Ordinance is
amended to add the following definitions:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE
(ORDINANCE N0. 570) TO ALLOW BONA FIDE
RESTAURANTS TO SELL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES FOR
ON-BYTE CONSUMPTION WITHIN THREE HUNDRED FEET
(300') OF RESIDENTIALLY ZONED PROPERTIES WITH
A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT.
BONA FIDE RESTAURANT is a place which is regularly
used and kept open for the serving of meals to
guests for compensation and which has suitable
kitchen facilities for the cooking of an assortment
of foods which may be required for meals.

MEAL shall mean the usual assortment of foods
commonly ordered at various hours of the day;
however, a menu offering food and victuals such
as sand~~iiches, snacks, and/or salads only, shall
not be deemed as being in compliance with this
requirement.

Section 2.
Section 8.11 (c) is amended to read as
(c) Veterans' clubs chartered by the United States
Congress for patriotic, fraternal or benevolent
purposes, and bona fide restaurants as defined in
Section 2.00 of this ordinance, shall be exempt
from paragraph (a) of this section, provided, as
to bona fide restaurants, a Conditional Use Permit
is obtained and the following specific conditions
are met:
1. A masonry wall of six feet (6') in height is
constructed around the parking area of such
establishments when these areas are exposed
to residences (adjacent to or across an alley
from).
2. Exterior walls are sound-proofed sufficiently
so that any noise will not disturb surrounding
residents or businesses.
3. Exterior lighting of the parking area is kept
at a level of intensity which provides ade-
quate light for patrons, but which does not
disturb residents or businesses adjacent to
the premises.
Section 3. Severability. If any section, subsection,
subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance,
or the application thereof to any person or place, is for any
reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of
any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its
application to ,other persons or places. The City Council hereby
declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each
section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or
portion thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more
sections, subsections, subdivisions, sentences, clauses, phrases,
or portions, or the application thereof to any person or place
be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same
to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general
circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Lynwood.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
said City held on the - '~i-d day of November 1981, and finally
ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the
17th day of November , 1981.
