AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD REQUIRING GENERAL MUNICI-
PAL ELECTIONS TO BE HELD ON THE DATE OF
SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has enacted Senate Bill 230
which allows a city council to consolidate future municipal
general elections with school district elections; and
WHEP,EAS, Section 2502 of the Elections Code provides that
school district elections shall be held on the first Tuesday
after the first Monday in November of each odd-numbered year.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: From and after the effective date of this
Ordinance, tTie general municipal election of the City of
Lynwood shall take place on the day of school district
elections as set forth in Elections Code Section 2602.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk is authorized and directed to
comply with the provisions of Government Code Section 36503.5.
SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall be effective upon adoption
by the City Council and approval by the Los Angeles Board of
Supervisors pursuant to Sections 36503.5 and 36937(a) of the
Government Code.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the
same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newso_aaer of
general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the
City of Lynwood.
Adopted in accordance with Government Code Section 36937(a)
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lynwood
held on the 15th day of December . 1981.
