The Wellsburg Town Council met in special session on January 2d,
1974, with Mayor Eckhoff presiding and all council members present.
Purpose of the meeting was to organize for the 1974 calendar year.
Incumbent Mayor Eckhoff swore into office Mayor -elect Herman Hippen,
Sr. who then presided over the meeting. Thereupon, Mayor Hippen
administered the oath o ffice to councilmen Huisman, Heinrich,
Fairbanks, Van Deest, ai'4enning, and the clerk, Henry J. Grobe.
The mayor made the following committee appointments: Town Hall --
Fairbanks and Van Deest; Water Department --Heinrich and Penning;
Streets and Alleys--Huisman and Heinrich; Fire and Public Safety --
Van Deest and Huisman; Sewer and Sanitation --Penning and Van Deest;
Parks and Recreation--Huisman and Fairbanks. Huisman was appointed
Mayor Pro-tem;-t"Bernard Harms, Treasurer,
The meeting was then recessed until January 7. /�?

by Huisman, seconded by Penning. Carried.

The treasurer's report was accepted as read on a motion by Hein-
rich, seconded by Huisman. Carried.
Moved by Fairbanks, seconded by Van Deest, to adopt the resolution
accepting the municipal swimming pool and also dedicating and desig-
nating the adjoining property as Blythe Park. Carried.
Moved by Huisman, seconded by Van Deest, designating the Peoples
Savings Bank as official depository for town funds; T. J.
Heronimus,
City Attorney and Hollis Ryken, town engineer. Carried.
The mayor appointed Frank Hippen and Merrill Lindaman
as town main-
tenance employees. A motion was made by Penning, seconded by Huisman,
to fix the salary of each at $500 per month retroactive to January 1,
1974. Carried.
Fairbanks moved and Heinrich seconded adjournment. C
