Department Head Retreat
Minutes
January 30, 2020 6:30 P.M. Greencastle City Hall
I. Call to Order; Roll Call
Mayor Dory called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM; upon roll by Clerk
Treasurer Lynda Dunbar the following were present: Mark Hammer, Adam
Cohen, Stacie Langdon, Veronica Pejril, Cody Eckert, Dave Murry and Tyler
Wade.
II. Department Report by:
A. Tom Sutherlin — Police Chief— Chief Sutherlin provided a hand-out at the
retreat that included a summary of how many officers and staff work at the
Greencastle police department, officer retention, salary concerns, salaries
needed for retention, dangers of the professions and some goals for 2020. He
started his presentation at 6:30 pm and completed at 8:10 pm.
B. John Burgess, Fire Chief— Chief Burgess distributed to the council a 2019
incident summary for the Township and City. In his discussion, he also
included current staffing and training numbers, and a salary comparative
handout sheet from surrounding fire departments. His presentation started at
8:20 and ended at 9:20 pm

Motion was made by Tyler Wade to adjourn the meeting at 9:25 pm
second by Cody Eckert, 7-0,motion carried.
