Leesburg’s Fort Evans Plaza II on July 9, 2014
Leesburg, VA (July 7, 2014) – On Wednesday, July
9, at 10:30 a.m., Virginia and Leesburg officials will
celebrate the opening of the new premier ABC
store in Leesburg with a ribbon cutting. The new
Leesburg store, located at 506A Fort Evans Road NE
in the Fort Evans Plaza II Shopping Center, is the
second ABC retail location in the state to feature
the ABC’s new branding initiative.
The celebration will begin with brief remarks by Virginia ABC Chairman Jeffrey Painter, Virginia
ABC Commissioner Judy Napier and Leesburg Mayor Kristen Umstattd. Following the ribbon
cutting and official photos, ABC employees will give informal store tours and refreshments will
be served.
The Virginia General Assembly established the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage
Control on March 7, 1934. Shortly thereafter, the ABC opened the first state store. Today, 80
years later, Virginia ABC has evolved into a vibrant agency operating nearly 350 retail stores in
locations across the state. Since its inception, the Virginia ABC has contributed more than $8.2
billion in tax revenue to the Commonwealth.
