HomeMy Public PortalAbout20140224 - Parks & Recreation - Meeting MinutesHopkinton Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes of 2-24-14 The Parks and Recreation Meeting was called to order by Chairman Bob Dobinski on Monday, February 24th at 7:03pm Dan Terry, Eric Sonnett, Tim Kilduff, Amy Markovich, Kevin Hanley and Jack Nealon were present. Laura Davis of the Hopkinton Farmers Market was present. Farmers Market Update: -Results of the farmers market surveys- 1 visitor survey / 1 vendor survey -Survey indicated the common was the best location for the market -Local markets are not negatively affected by this Sunday-market - The market would look favorably on receiving a permit to offer wine tasting Eric Sonnett made the motion to: allow wine tasting on the common 5-0 Yes - Discussion of the annual fee for the market - The board reviewed the Letter from the Kelley’s in preparation of this meeting - Location of the market will remain along Ash St. Marathon Update: - Discussion of Monday morning regarding vendors and the situation on the common - Creation of the community experience- Friday, Saturday & Sunday - Discussion of reducing the rate for vendors Motion to approve minutes from 1/13/14- 5-0 Motion to approve minutes from 2/3/14 - 5-0 Parks and Recreation Budget: -Discussion of the enterprise fund Dan Terry motioned to set the Parks and Recreation Expense Budget at $573,643.51, Seconded After Discussion – Vote: 4-1 Director’s Report: - Narrative for the Park and Recreation Department - 2014 Spring/Summer Brochure to be released March 15th - Easter Egg Hunt April 12th - Boat Passes / Beach Passes - Lisa Carty- Summer Camp reduced to 1 camp this year - Opening Sandy Beach and Closing Sandy Beach - Ski-programs end next Monday - Garden Club use the common May 7th Liaison Reports CPC / Upper Charles River Committee- CPC tabled the purchasing of Beth Whitecoughs Property/Parcel Reed Park- $150,000 in the project pool Lake Maspenock- Sandy Beach: phases to be completed June 20 Marathon Fund- No recent actions Fruit St- Potential for plowing the facility for an event this weekend Summer Camp- Potential for Tj Elder’s expenses to be covered this summer Summer Concert Series- Kelly is to be put on the agenda next meeting Chairman’s Report: - Bob and Kevin to meet with the Babe Ruth organization - AYF Registration System - Financial Information for Hopkinton Youth Soccer - Conversation with Al Rogers regarding the Ice Rink, Continued Youth Education and potential programs this summer - Mike Curtin and Katie Curran have been paid Meeting adjourned at 9:30 PM Next scheduled meeting 3-10-14 at 7:00pm Minutes Prepared by Jack Nealon
