HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 1106 ORDINANCE NO. 1106 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING SECTION 24-32 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD PER- TAINING TO THE PERSONNEL SYSTEM The City Council of the City of Lynwood HEREBY DOES ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Section 24-32 of the Code of the City of Lynwood hereby is amended to read as follows: Sec. 24-32. Coverage of Classified Service. The provisions of this article shall apply to all offices, positions and employment in the service of the city except: {a) Elective offices; (b) Positions on appointive boards, commis- sions and committees; (c) Persons employed under contract to supply expert professional or technical services for a definite period of time; (d) Volunteer personnel, such as volunteer firemer, who rece,ve no regular compensation from the city; (e) City manager and city attorney; (f) Part-time crossing guards, per diem, hourly and seasonal employees, reserve firemen and reserve policemen; (g) Grant-funded positions, project posi- tions, and positions authorized for specific periods of time; and (h) Such other offices, positions, and em- ployment in the service of the city as may from time to time be specified by resolution of the city council. SECTION 2 Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or place, is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitu- tional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdic- tion, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its application to other persons or places. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each sec- tion, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivisions, sentences, clauses, phrases, or portions, or the application thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or unconstitu- tional. SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, pub- lished and circulated in the City of Lynwood. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 5th day of AUGUST , 1980, and finally ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 19th day of AUGUST , 1980.
