Home My Public Portal AboutOrd. 1131N 81039 ORDINANCE NO. 1131 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COJNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING CHAPTER XII OF'tHE ZONING OR- DINANCE, ORDINANCE NO. 570, REGARDING DEVELOP- MIs'IVT STANDARDS FOR OFF-STREE'C PARKING AND LOADING AREAS The City Council of the City of Lynwood HEREBY DOES ORDAIN as follows: SEC'T'ION L The tit Le of Chapter XII of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Lynwood is hereby amended to read as follows: Development Standards for Off-Street Parking and Loading Areas SECTION 2. Section L2. OL of the Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to read as follows: Section L2. OL Design and Development The provisions of this ordinance shall be incorporated into aLL applicable design standards to which the City currentL,y adheres, e. g., City of Lynwood Driveway Standards, L.A. County Road Department Standards, etc. ALL parking areas shalt be paved with a hard surface and sloped so as to be drained of all surface water. SECTION 3. Section 12.01 (A) of the Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 12. 01 (A) Size of Parking Spaces Each off-street parking space shall not be Less than eighteen (18') feet in Length and nine (9') feet in width, exclusive of access driveways or aisles, except as noted in (a), Ub),'and (c) below: (a) Any parking space that is immediately adjacent to a wall, structural column, Light standard, or similar obstruction on one or both of its longer sides shall be at Least ten (LO') feet in width; (b) Spaces within a building sha11 be LO x 20 or 8. 5 x L7 as applicable to standard or compact car spaces; (c) Smaller spaces for compact automobiles may be per- mitted for up to *.hirty (30%) percent of the required parking spaces in non-residential parking areas that contain at Least ten (LO) parking spaces. (L) The reduced spaces shall be no Less than seven(7''6") feet, six inches in width and fifteen (15') feet in length [.except as noted in (a) above), and must be prominently Labeled as compact car spaces. 81039-2 i o (2) The use of compact parking spaces shall be per- mitted only where site plan approval for the pro- posed parking area has been granted in accord- ance with Section 25-29 of the Lynwood City Code. SECTION 4. Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or place, is for any reason held to be invalid or un- constitutionaL by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this or- dinance or its application to other persons or places. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion thereof, ir- respective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsectia~s, subdivi- sions, sentences, clauses, phrases, or portions, or the application thereof to any persoiz or place, be declared invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 5. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, pub- lished, and circulated in the City of Lynwood. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 7th day of JULY 198L, and finally ordered pub- lished at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 21st day of JUT,Y 1981.
