HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolutions-2014-091RESOLUTION NO. 2014-091 A 'RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX ("LOST") BALLOT LANGUAGE FOR THE NOVEMBER 4, 2014 GENERAL ELECTION Whereas, The -City recognizes that the City of Iowa City has initiated the LOST process it will include the cities of: Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, Tiffin and Universtiy Heights and; Whereas the City Council of the City of Tiffin recognizes that all ballot language must be to the County Auditor's office prior to Wednesday, August 27th; and Whereas the wording to be on the General Election Ballot is: "Summary: to authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the City of Tiffin, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective from July 1St, 2014 Revenues from the sales and services tax shall be allocated for community improvements to include sidewalk, street, public safety, water and.sewer and any other lawful purpose of the City of Tiffin; Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City.of Tiffin, Iowa to approve Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) Ballot Language for the November 4th General Election. On the 23rd day of July, at -a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Councilperson Bartels introduced Resolution No. 2014-091, A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX ("LOST") BALLOT LANGUAGE FOR THE NOVEMBER 4T" GENERAL ELECTION and made a motion for approval. Motion seconded by Councilperson Kahler. Ayes: Kahler, Petersen, Bartels, Upton Nays: none. Absent: Ryan. Whereupon four Council members were present and voted approval and Mayor Berner declared that the Resolution No. 2014-091, A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX ("LOST") BALLOT LANGUAGE FOR THE NOVEMBER 4T" GENERAL ELECTION to be adopted and signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
