Woodland, District D Councilor Watertown Town Council Administration Building 149 Main Street Watertown, MA 02472 Phone: 617-972-6470 COMMITTEE ON STATE, FEDERAL AND REGIONAL GOVERNMENT MEETING: MARCH 12, 2018 READ: MARCH 27, 2018 The Committee convened at 7:00 P.M. on March 12, 2018 in the Town Council Office. Present were Committee Members Councilor Angeline Kounelis, chair; Councilor Lisa Feltner, vice chair; and Councilor Anthony Donato, secretary. The purpose of the meeting was to interview Mr. Eugene Slaven for consideration of reappointment to the Watertown Board of Election Commissioners. Mr. Slaven was originally nominated by the Watertown Town Republican Committee to fill the unexpired term of Ms. Deborah Dugan and his appointment was confirmed at the Town Council meeting held on August 8, 2017. Mr. Slaven was then nominated by the Watertown Town Republican Committee for reappointment to the Board of Election Commissioners. Mr. Slaven has lived in Watertown for approximately three (3) years and currently serves as the vice chair of the Watertown Town Republican Town Committee. Mr. Slaven enjoyed being involved in the fall 2017 election and is excited to continue to work with the Board of Election Commissioners on initiatives such as improving the early voting process and implementing new voting machines. ACTION ITEM: Councilor Donato made a motion, seconded by Councilor Feltner, to recommend the Town Council confirm Mr. Slaven's reappointment to the Board of Election Commissioners with a term to expire on April 1, 2022. Voted 3-0. Councilor Donato made a motion, seconded by Councilor Feltner, that the committee adjourn. Voted 3-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:11 P.M. Report respectfully prepared by Anthony Donato
