HomeMy Public PortalAbout08/23/78 Special CCM1 The Council of the City of Medina met in special session on Wednesday, August 23, 1978 at 7:50 P.M. 9 r Members present: Mayor, Wayne Neddermeyer; Councilmembers, Arthur Theis, Nancy Laurent, William Reiser; Clerk, Donna Roehl; Public Works Director, Ron Duran; Engineer, Lyle Swanson Nembers absent: Thomas Crosby 1. HAMEL PUMP HOUSE Motion by Theis, seconded by Reiser to authorize the City Engineer to prepare specifications and plans for the Hamel pump house and associated appurtenances. Motion declared carried Motion by Reiser, seconded by Laurent to advertize for bids on the Hassel pump house; bids to be opened at 10:00 A.M. on September 11, 1978, with Council to consider bids at 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 12, 1978. Motion declared carried 2. ROAD REFERENDUM Motion by Reiser, seconded by Laurent to authorize the sending of letters of information to Medina residents regarding the upcoming road improvement referendum. Motion declared carried 3. PLANNING AND ZONING ADMINISTRATOR Robert Derus appeared to discuss with Council his application to fill the Planning and Zoning .Administrator's vacancy. He explained his qualifications and the work he has been doing for Rogers; City Clerk, Sewer and Water maintenance, etc. Discussion of filling the assessor's posistion. Mr. Derus stated that he would be interested in the posistion and explained the amount of schooling and testing that is required. Discussion as to whether or not the work could be done under a certified assessor. Wayne Neddermeyer reported that the Minnetonka Assessors do not wish to do the work as they do not have the time with the amount of present staff. Motion by Theis, seconded by Reiser to appoint Robert Derus as Planning and Zoning Admini.strato2 to work Monday thru Friday from 8:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M., beginning September 5, 1978, at $5.50 per hour, $15.00 per Council meeting, $10.00 per Planning Commission meeting, 6 months probation, and completing a physical examination. Motion declared carried 4. SEWER AND WATER MAINTENANCE Ron Duran reported that Richard Krotzer is working part time inspecting the systems. Discussion of paying PERA and Social Security for Mr. Krotzer or entering into a contract. Donna Roehl was asked to contact the city attorney and request the preparation of a contract that can be discussed at the September 5th meeting. Motion by Theis, seconded by Reiser to adjourn..
