On May 25, 2010 with three (3) members of the Planning Board ("the Board) present, the
following amendment to Section 5.06 (Floodplain District) of the Watertown Zoning
Ordinance was considered to be heard by the Town Council on June 1, 2010. The Board
submits the following report to aid the Town Council in its decision.
AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE §5.06, Floodplain District
DATE OF PLANNING BOARD HEARING: May 25, 2010
PLANNING BOARD VOTE/ RECOMMENDATION: 3-0, Approval
DATE OF PLANNING BOARD REPORT: May 28, 2010
DATE OF TOWN COUNCIL HEARING June 1, 2010
AMENDMENT DESCRIPTION:
Delete in its entirety, Section 5.06, Floodplain District, and replace with a new Section 5.06,
Floodplain District, that includes revised language to reflect the changes to the National
Flood Insurance Program, as required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA).

§5.06, Floodplain District Planning Board Report
STAFF PRESENTATION:
Danielle Evans, Senior Planner presented the proposed amendment to section 5.06,
Floodplain District. Ms. Evans explained that the purpose for the amendment is to update the
Zoning Ordinance to reflect the most current requirements of FEMA and the National Flood
Insurance Program and the transition to digital maps associated with the Flood Map
Modernization Program.
Chris Markesich from DCR was in attendance to answer any questions.
PUBLIC TESTIMONY:
No public testimony was received for this Petition.
PLANNING BOARD DISCUSSION AND VOTE:
Motion made by Jeff Brown to recommend to the Town Council approval of the amendment
to Section 5.06 Floodplain District. Fergal Brennock seconded the motion. The motion
passed 3-0 in favor.
