HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 1054~7 ORDINANCE NO. 1054 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD REPEALING SECTIONS 23-48 ANll 25-20 OF, AMENDING SECTION 9-1/2_4 OF, AND ADDING SECTION 2-10 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD RELATING TO AB- SENCES FROM i+lEETINGS OF CONiI~RISSIOIVS, BOARD AND COMMITTEES. i'he City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Sections 23-48 and 25-20 of the Code of the City of Lynwood hereby are repealed. SECTION 2. Section 9-1/2-4 of the Code of the City of Lynwood hereby is amended to read as follows: Pour of the members first appointed to the com- mission shall be designated by the City Council to serve terms of two (2) years; and three of ti7e members first appointed shall be designated by tae City Council to serve terms of four (4) years. All succeeding terms of office shall be for a period of four (4) years. Members shall hold office until their successors are guali- fied an d, take office. SECTION 3. Section 2-10 hereby is added to the Code of the City of Lynwood to read as follows: Section 2-10. Conunissions, Boards, and Committees - Absences from Peetings; Removal (a) Any member of any conunission, board, or committee established by the provisions of this Cone shall be deemed to have resigned therefrom, and his office as a member of such commission, board, or committee shall be deemed vacant, if he shall fail to attend three consecutive regular meetings thereof (unless such absences, or any of them, shall have been excused by action of the commission, board, or committee of which he is a member and such action shall nave been recorded in the official minutes thereof) and if such absences shall not have been excused by action of the City Council taken at or before its first regular meeting following the third such absence. (b) The City Council may remove any member of any commission, board, or committee referred to in subsection (a) hereof at any time and without cause; provided, however, that any action of the City Council to remove a member of the Personnel Board from office prior to the expiration of his term shall not be effective unless approved by at least four councilmen. SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Lynwood First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City held on the 5th day of December, 1978, and finally adopted and ordered -published at'a regular meeting of said Council held on the 19tlxiay of December 1978.
