Ten persons attended as follows: BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT (6) STAFF PRESENT (2) Mr. Bill Burton (Chair) Chief Roger Schroeder Ms. Lisa Lehman (Secretary) Lt. Jeff Stiefermann Mr. Stacey Backues Mr. Rick Derks Mr. Kemp Shoun Ms. Stephanie Scruggs BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT (1) Mr. Dan Klindt Following greetings, roll call was taken. Approval of March 1, 2018 minutes It was moved by Derks and seconded by Backues that minutes of the March 1, 2018 Board meeting, be approved. The motion was carried unanimously. Old Business Property Room Technician-Lt. Stiefermann announced that the part-time Property Room Technician started on March 28, 2018. This position was approved in November, 2017 for the new budget at 32 hours per week with benefits. New Business Police Officer and Communication Operator Testing- Lt. Stiefermann announced that the application process for Police Officer and Communications Operator would start on April 6, 2018 and end April 29, 2018. Lt. Stiefermann distributed copies of the scheduled testing dates and times as follows: Communications Operator Testing – Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Police Officer Testing – Friday, May 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. & Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. The Board will be having a special meeting date next month on May 17th to review and discuss the testing results and move the approved candidates forward to the next stage of the interview process. Lt. Stiefermann went over the entire testing process with the Board explaining the roles of the Police Personnel Board and their responsibilities as proctors at the time of testing. He also explained the steps involved after the initial written testing is completed, including background checks, the interview process, polygraph, and physicals. The goal is to have the entire process completed by July 22, 2018. Communications Supervisor Retirement- Lt. Stiefermann announced that the current Communications Supervisor is retiring at the end of April, 2018 after almost 26 years with the department. So far there have been 7 applications received to fill this position, with 2 of these 7 applications being from current employees of the department. Chief Schroeder went over general information on the applications that were received and Mr. Derks asked about the steps involved for hiring for this position. There was a discussion with the Board about the requirements and process and Chief Schroeder will give updates as the process moves forward.
