HomeMy Public PortalAbout2018-09-06 minutesCity of Jefferson Police Personnel Board Minutes-September 6, 2018 The meeting was called to order at 12:02 p.m. Nine persons attended as follows: BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT (6) STAFF PRESENT (3) Ms. Lisa Lehman (Secretary) Lt. Jeff Stiefermann Mr. Stacey Backues (Vice-Chair) Sara Trittler, H.R. Mr. Kemp Shoun Lt. Dave Williams Mr. Bill Burton (Chair) Mr. Dan Klindt Ms. Stephanie Scruggs Following greetings, roll call was taken. Approval of August 9, 2018 minutes It was moved by Klindt and seconded by Backues that minutes from August 9, 2018 Board meeting be approved. The motion was carried unanimously. Old Business Hiring update- Lt. Stiefermann announced that one Police Officer, Dakota Brewer started on 8/29/18 and new Police Information Clerk Alison Peters is scheduled to start on 9/10/2018. Currently the department has one vacancy for Communications Operator. New Business Replacement for Board Member Rick Derks - Mr. Burton discussed the opening on the Board due to Rick Derks leaving the board recently. Sara Trittler will get information and list of candidates to Lt. Stiefermann so a candidate can be selected and voted on at city council meeting. Lt. Williams introduced himself to the Board, and the Members of the Board welcomed him. Budget meeting-Lt. Stiefermann announced that the department is currently full with 89 Police Officers. He went on to say that the department is expecting approval at the 2017 upcoming budget meeting for an additional Police Officer that was requested in the budget, which would mean the department would have a vacancy that needs to be filled. Other items up for approval in the requested budget include a 2% increase in pay and 14 new Police patrol vehicles. Hiring Timeline for Police Officer and Communications Operator Lt. Stiefermann explained that in order to have new candidates for Police Officer ready for LETI Academy which starts January 2nd 2019, we would need to schedule testing again in October, 2018. Mr. Burton went over the schedule for proctoring the next testing with the Police Personnel Board and filled the slots with the available Board Members. The following dates have been scheduled for testing as follows: Communications Operator Testing - Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Police Officer Testing - Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Other Business Next meeting- October 18, 2018 It was moved by Klindt and seconded by Lehman for adjournment.
