April 17, 2018
Commissioner Stu Murphy called the meeting to order at the Green Berry Indoor Cabin, 1915 Green
Berry Road, Jefferson City, 65101.
Committee members present were: Celeste Koon, Chris Yarnell, and Mark Kaiser. Staff present was
Amy Shaw, JJ Gates, Andy Carroll, Tina Werner, Phil Stiles, Aaron Grefrath, and Todd Spalding.
Commissioner Stu Murphy was present as well as Brian Adams and Shannon Gordon with
WNB/Landworks Studio.
Park Master Plan Review
Commissioner Murphy stated that the Park Master Plan has been worked on for the past year and called
on Brian Adams and Shannon Gordon to provide an overview for committee members.
Shannon Gordon gave an overview of the Park Mater Plan and how it was developed for committee
members.
Committee member Mark Kaiser asked how our number of parks stacks up to other cities. Gordon
responded that Jefferson City is high on the number of parks and acres. Kaiser then asked if our parks
are well distributed throughout Jefferson City. Gordon stated that we have equal distribution except for
an zone around Washington Park which seems to be underdeveloped.
Director Spalding asked if committee members had a link to the improvements planned at Community
Park. Staff had printed copies of the planned improvements and the committee reviewed them.
Committee member Celeste Koon expressed her thoughts relative to the Master Plan. She stated it was
well written and inclusive of a lot of information.
Adjournment
With no other items to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 1:03 p.m.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 17, 2018 - location TBA.
