ORDINANCE NO. 947 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TI3~ CITY OF I.YNWOOD AMENDING SECTIONS 5-19 AND 23-17 (b) OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF LYNVUOOD PROHIBITING DOGS IN PUBLIC PARKS The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 5-19 of the Code of the City of Lynwood hereby is amended to read as follows: Sec. 5-19. Running at Large. It shall be unlawful within the City for any person owning, harboring or having care, custody, charge or possession of any dog to allow or permit the dog to go free or to run at large upon any public street, alley, road, highway, school yard or any othen public place, or in or upon any unenclo5ed'lot or premises. It shall also be unlawful within the City for any person owning, harboring or having care, custody, ahat'ge or possession of any dog to bring the dog into, or to aLlow or permit 'the dog to enter upon or to walk or run in any public park within the City, whether or not the dog is restrained by a leash. As used in this section, the word "park" shall include John D. Ham Park, Lynwood City Park, the Lynwood Ciyic Center Grounds, the medians and park circles in State Street, the medians in Los Flores Boulevard, and any other park or park site hereafter acquired by or dedicated to the City of Lynwood. However, nothing in this section shall be deemed to prohihit the presence in City Parks of dogs participating in obedience Gla6ses or dog shows sponsored by the city Department of Recreation or the presence of guide dogs used pursuant to Section 19-89 of this Code. 5ECTION 2. Section 23-17 (b) of the Lynrvood City Code hereby is amend- ed to read as follows: (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to lead or let loose any cattle, horse, mule, goat, sheep, swine or fowl or animal af any kind in any public park; provided, however, that it shall not be unlawful CP permit or allow a dog in a public park while the dog is participating in an obedience class or dog show sponsored by the City Department of Recreation and provided further that it shall not be unlawful to use a guide dog in a City park pursuant to Section 19-89 of th'is Code. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published in the Lynwqod Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated iq the Ci~y o£ Lynwood. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 17th day of July, 1973, and finally adopted and prdered published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 7th day of August, 1973, by the following vote: Ayes: Noes: Absent: Councilmen Councilmen Councilmen Liewer Rowe.
