ORDdNANCE NO, 933
AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING THE
ZONING ORDINANCE OF TI~E CdTY OF LYNWOOD
AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROHIBITING
THE CONSTRUCTION OF GROCERY STORES WITHIN
ANY ZONE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD HEREBY DOES ORBAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 .
Any provision of the Lynwood City Co3e and/or the Lynwood Zoning Ordinance
to the contrary notwithstanding, no grocery stores of any kind shall be
constructed in any zoning district within the City.
SECTION 2.
Any grocery store, the construction of which has been commenced on or
before the effective date of th~s ardinance, shall be allowed to be completed
and operated as if this ordinance had nat been adopted.
SECTION 3.
No existing structure which is not being u~ed as a grocery store or food
market on the effective date of this ordinance shall hereafter be so used.
SECTION 4.
This is an urgency ordinance and shall take effect immediately and shall
be effective for a period of four mon~hs, subject to extention pursuant to
Government Code Section 65858, The fac~;s c~nstituting the urgency are
that the City Council, Plaranzrng Commission, and Planning Department
are studying and intend to study within a reasonabIle time a zoning proposal
regulating the location, construc:tian and c~perakaon of grocery stores.
The public health, safety and weflfare of the ci4flzens of Lynwood require
that the provisions of this ~rd'ana~c~ ~ake effec~ zmmediately in order to
prevent uses which may be in conf~fct vrith ~h~ aforesaid proposal.
SECTION 5
The City Clerk is hereby ordered and d`arected ta certify to the passage of
this ordinance and to cause the same to be p~bYished once in the Lynwood
Press, a newspaper of generaIl c~.rculataon, printed, published, and
circulated in the City of Lynwood.
First read at a regular mee4ing of the City Council of said City held
on the 3rd day of Apri3, 1923 and ad~pted and ordered published at a regular
meeting of said Council held on the 3rc~ day ~f April, 3973 by the following vote:
