Cole, Library Director = ' c: DATE: August 23, 2019 RE: 2018 Evaluation Response Thank you to the Trustees with whom I met and those who offered clarification and/or examples in writing. I appreciate the compliments and will certainly consider the suggestions made going forward. There are two concepts that I would like to directly address. The first is the role of the Board. As I have pointed out, the charter is very clear about the roles and responsibilities. During the onboarding process for new Trustees I always ask that Trustees be advocates for the library. And by virtue of being elected, they are the conduit between residents and library administration. I look to Trustees to bring a community view to their roles and help us understand what the community needs and wants from their library. I value the guidance and input that is provided. The other issue is evaluation of my personnel management skills. I am requesting that management skills be removed from the evaluation form because the Trustees cannot view my skills firsthand, and because personnel management is not under the Trustees' purview. Again, thank you for this evaluation, and I look forward to another productive year. 123 Main Street Watertown, MA 02472-4478 617.972.6434 watertownlib.org
