HomeMy Public PortalAbout2012-01 - EMPLOYEE HANDBOOKORDINANCE 2012 -1 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2009 -1 ESTABLISHING AN EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE WI- AREAS, the Common Council of the City of Greencastle passed Ordinance 2009 -1 establishing an Employee Handbook for the City of Greencastle Employees; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to update said handbook. WHEREAS, there are times for the needed usage of a credit cards for business related services, and WHEREAS, the Clerk- Treasurer shall have the power to dispense and administer City credit cards to authorized City employees. NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that it hereby amends Section H. General Information, P City Property, of the City of Greencastle Employee Handbook, which was adopted by Ordinance 2009 -1 The amendments are shown in bold type. All other provisions contained in the Employee Manual shall remain in full force and effect. II. P City Property and Credit Card Usage Employees are prohibited from using and loaning City vehicles, materials, tools, equipment, and labor for personal or private use regardless of whether it is during work or non -work time. Employees may not perform work during scheduled work hours that is not related to City business. This prohibits any employee from performing private work for himself, another employee, or a non - employee during scheduled work hours. A City issued credit card is to be used for City - approved, City - related purchases only and is not to be used for personal purchases. Employees must keep copies of all itemized receipts of all transactions. Receipts must be attached to the monthly claim for payment. If the claims are not itemized or properly documented, they will be returned to the employee for correction. If an employee incurs any interest or penalty due to late filing or furnishing of documentation, which is the fault of the employee, the employee will be held responsible for paying the interest or penalty charged. Employees are advised that all facilities, including all equipment, locket s, desks and other furniture remain the sole property of the City The City reserves the right to open, inspect and/or examine all facilities and contents therein at any time for legitimate business reasons, including investigating alleged work - related misconduct. Any exception to this policy must be approved in advance by the Mayor. Violators of this policy may be subject to repayment of personal expenses, and disciplinary action up to and including termination.
