Page 40 is the bginning of 120-3-20-.17 Parking and Passenger Loading Zones. I'll paste the highlights only for a general introduction of the materials for Ron. 2) Location.Accessible parking spaces serving a particular building shall be located on the shortest accessible route of travel from adjacent parking to an accessible entrance (3) Parking Spaces.Accessible parking spaces shall be at least 96 inches(2440 mm) wide. Parking access aisles shall be part of an accessible route to the building or facility entrance and shall comply with rule 120-3-20-.14. Two accessible parking spaces may share a common access aisle (see Fig.9). Parked vehicle overhangs shall not reduce the clear width of an accessible route. Compliance Date for Title II If the start date for construction is on or after March 15, 2012, all newly constructed or altered State and local government facilities must comply with the 2010 Standards. Before that date, the 1991 Standards (without the elevator exemption), the UFAS, or the 2010 Standards may be used for such projects when the start of construction commences on or after September 15,2010. I understand any confusion in the Federal explanation of code requirements. I sat with around 50 of my peers about a year ago at the Civic Center in a seminar presented by the State on how the new codes would come into effect. However as 03-15-12 has passed, its my understanding that all new construction must comply with the 2010 Standards. http://www.ada.gov/regs2010/2010ADAStandards/2010ADAstandards.htm#pgfld-1010282 is the site I viewed the 2010 site related requirements on (that just became effective).
