HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2014-08-26 Convoy of Hope event Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release Convoy of Hope Hosts $1 Million Giveaway in Leesburg on Saturday, September 13, 2014 Leesburg, VA (August 26, 2014) – Convoy of Hope, a faith-based charitable organization, will partner with local businesses, churches, government agencies and non-profit organizations on Saturday, September 13, 2014, to host a community celebration that will feature a variety of free goods and services for guests. The Convoy of Hope celebration will take place at the Shenandoah Building (102 Heritage Way NE, Leesburg, VA 20176). Gates open at 10:00am. The event will take place rain or shine and will last until supplies run out. Goods and services offered at the Leesburg event will include groceries, health and dental screenings, haircuts, family portraits, a brown-bag lunch and more. Convoy of Hope national partner Plum Organics will distribute organic food specifically created for babies, toddlers and school-age children. In addition, there will be a “Kids Zone” with carnival games, inflatables and live entertainment. All goods and services are free of charge. Identification is not required to participate in the event. At last year’s event in Leesburg, over 4,000 people attended. Event organizers hope to serve 5,000 guests this year and are expecting over 1,000 volunteers. People wishing to volunteer can attend a Volunteer Rally at Cornerstone Chapel (742 Miller Drive SE, Leesburg, VA 20175) at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 11, 2014. No pre-registration is required.
