HomeMy Public PortalAboutjan 17 specialGreencastle Common Council Special Meeting Minutes January 19, 2012 7:00 p.m. City Hall I. Call to Order: Roll Call A. Mayor Murray called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.; upon roll call by Mayor Murray present were: Jinsie Bingham, Adam Cohen, Mark Hammer, Phyllis Rokicki and Terry J. Smith. II. Department Head Discussions A. Utilities Superintendent Richard Hedge provided A Summary of Accomplishments in 2011 and Goals for 2012. By July 1, 2012, they plan to complete the first round of grease trap inspections for a total of 56. They will begin a fire hydrant replacement project. B. Police Chief Tom Sutherlin explained his agency worked several months a shortage of two officers. He pointed out that reserve officers were a great help, especially since their support helped with an already tight budget. They were also able to secure funding for bulletproof vests, Glock Pistols and two new 2012 Dodge Chargers. For 2012, the new RMS system for record keeping will be implemented by April 1, and it will provide a better manner to share information with other county police agencies. C. Public Works Commissioner Brad Phillips distributed a 2011 year end summary and 2012 goals. In 2012, Mr. Phillips plans to continue piping open ditches and putting in place a new street cut repair procedure. The 2011 summary included assisting other departments and with city programs, extensive maintenance of city equipment, the Veterans Tree Program, in addition to street, sidewalk and drainage replacement and maintenance. D. Parks and Recreation Director Rod Weinschenk provided a List of 2011 Accomplishments and 2012 Goals. For the new year, Mr. Weinschenk will continue programming, Americans with Disabilities improvements at the Aquatic Center, maintenance of all four parks, working with Friends of the Park and other organizations.
