Ida Lee Flag Football Team Places Second in Washington
Redskins’ “Get the Ball Rolling” Tournament
Leesburg, VA (August 18, 2014) – A
team of players from Leesburg’s NFL Flag
Football League placed second in the
Washington Redskins’ “Get the Ball
Rolling” Flag Football Tournament in
Richmond, Virginia, last month.
The Ida Lee Fast and Furious, a 12-and-
under team coached by Eric Johnson, had
an outstanding tournament. The team
went 2-1-1 overall, gave up just 16 points
in four games, and made it to the
championship game. Ultimately, however,
the Fast and Furious lost the hard fought championship game against Fauquier County, going into
double overtime.
As part of the tournament, players had the opportunity to meet Washington Redskins quarterback
Robert Griffin, III. Griffin spoke to the players about the importance of teamwork .
The Fast and Furious players are looking forward to continuing their growth through future seasons
at Ida Lee. Currently, the Town of Leesburg offers flag football leagues in the fall and spring. This
coming spring season, Leesburg will offer a “house league” for ages 6-16 and an “elite” league that
will be comprised of 4 age divisions 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, and 18 and under).
Registration for the spring 2015 flag football season will begin in late November.
