AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER PRESENT: Chairman Jerry Hansen, Board members Adrian Beazer, Bruce Case and Brian Sturtman, Clerk Betty McKinlay VISITORS: Steve Elg, Scout Troop and Leaders Dru Guthrie, Sasha Belliston, Connor Guthrie, Rylee Baird, Justin Stoddard, Alex Miller, Chad Smith, Braxton Belliston Jerry Hansen welcomed everyone and the pledge was said. Jerry explained to the Scouts what the P/Z Commission does. Minutes were reviewed and approved. Steve Elg wants to build a garage off the side of his house. He wants to build it 20 feet wide to his property line. He would be within 7 feet of the property line. He will need a Variance. Jerry explained to him that he would need to bring in his drawings. His neighbor's waterline goes directly through his property. Five years ago they had a problem with their waterline and they had to dig it up and it buckled his driveway. Their turn off is in the middle of his driveway. He is hoping that the City will help with this problem and may be move the waterline to the alley. He would like to get this problem taken care of before he pours concrete. He does not want his concrete torn up to fix his neighbor's waterline. Jerry said to address his water issued first, than go ahead with his plans. Steve explained what his plans were for his garage. He will need a Variance. Jerry asked Steve to bring in his building plans next month to the P/Z. Jerry said the P/Z will talk to the Mayor about the water issue first before going ahead with the garage. The Impact Area was discussed. Adrian talked to Council member Dan Gubler and he said the next step would be to talk to Steve Serr at the County and include Kirt Hibbert, our Impact Area consultant. The Scouts were leaving and Jerry told them they needed to show up at 6:00 a.m. in the morning to shovel off the sidewalks. They didn't know what to think about that. They were stunned. Some of them thought he was serious. Jerry told the Board that the City has hired a Code Enforcement Officer. The City would like to take one member from the P/Z to set on the Board and make a 3 person board. The Board will take violations in the past and areas that need to be looked at now and take their recommendations to the Council. Brian Sturtman nominated Bruce Case. Bruce asked what the responsibilities of the job would entail. Jerry explained what he thought the Council would like Bruce to do. He would be on an advisory committee to take to the City Council. Bruce was concerned about the liabilities etc. Bruce is willing to do it, but wanted to know a little more about it. Jerry felt Brad should not be on the committee. Brian said if he is acting as a volunteer for the City or local government, they have insurance coverage and the courts will not hold you personal liable in a volunteer situation. Brian said to have Brad call the City Attorney. Betty will get the new Code Book to the Commission. The set backs were discussed. Bruce felt instead of granting Variances all the time, maybe change the set backs. It was decided to put in on the agenda for next month. Meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
