1. ADDITIONAL AGENDA ITEMS
Moved by Theis, seconded by Mitchell to discuss the following additional items:
Stop Signs on Medina Rd. at Tamarack Dr.
Seal Coat Bids
Motion declared carried
1. MEDINA RD. STOP SIGNS
Jim Dillman asked if Council wished to authorize posting of Stop signs on Medina Rd. at
Tamarack Dr. as had been suggested by residents of the area.
Council agreed to delay action at this time to allow time to determine if signs are
actually needed at that intersection.
2. SEAL COAT BIDS
Donna Roehl reported that bids for sealcoating various city streets had been received
on August 26th at 10:00 A.M. and because the city engineer had asked that Council approve
as soon as possible, she asked that Council consider the bids at this meeting. She also
explained that a bid had been postmarked on August 25th but had not been received until
the mail was delivered on August 26th, to late for the 10:00 A.M. bid opening. She
stated that normally the mail is picked up at the postoffice on bid dates but that she
and others had forgotten to do so on that day. She asked if Council wished to consider
th unopened bid of Astech.
Council agreed that the bid should be opened as the postmark was for August 25th.
The following bids were tabulated:
Allied Blacktop, Base bid--$9,724.00 Alternate bid--$11,641.50 Total Bid-21,365.50
Bituminous Roadways 9,256.00 12,499.00 21,755.50
Astech 13,260.00 17,940.00 31,200.00
Moved by Theis, seconded by Schmit to award the total bid to Allied Blacktop for sealcoating
Hunter Dr., Comanche Tr., Navajo Rd., Carriage Dr., Bridal Path Tr., Meadowwoods Tr.,
Cherokee Rd.
Motion declared carried
3. 1989 BUDGET
Council and staff reviewed prepared budget and discussed levy limits, mill rate, possibility
of increasing salary for Mayor and Council, Building Inspectors Contract, alternatives for
police staffing.
Donna Roehl was asked to write letters to the Hamel Fire department and the Hamel Athletic
Club, inviting them to attend the September 6th Council meeting to discuss their requests
for 1989.
4. POLICE TRAINING REFUND
Moved by Mitchell, seconded by Theis to authorize the City Clerk to sign application for
refund to funds for police training in 1987.
Motion declared carried
Moved by Mitchell, seconded by Theis to adjourn.
