Leesburg Seeks Nominations for 2014 Tolbert Environmental
Achievement Awards
Leesburg, VA (September 2, 2014) – The Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission is
seeking nominations for the 2014 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Awards. This award
program recognizes students, community groups, and individuals who conduct or participate in
activities that benefit the Town’s environment. Nominations must be submitted by close of
business on Friday, October 24, 2014.
Examples of activities that benefit the Town’s environment include:
• Participation in recycling and use of recycled materials (including composting and
collection programs for recyclable or reusable materials)
• Pollution prevention
• Waste reduction
• Clean up of litter or debris
• Beautification of the environment
• Environmental education
• Monitoring and protecting the condition of Leesburg’s environment
Nominations should be sent to Irish Grandfield, Environmental Planner, at
igrandfield@leesburgva.gov and should include a narrative, limited to one page, describing the
person or group nominated and why they deserve to be recognized. Please be specific about
their efforts and achievements and include quantifiable measures of success if possible. Photos
and other supplemental information may also be submitted. For more information, please visit

The 2014 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Awards will be presented at 7:30 pm on
December 9, 2014 at the Town Council Meeting.
