Animal Shelter Advisory Committee Meeting
Tuesday, September 18, 2018
Members Present:
Dr. Greg Popp, Chair Captain Deric Heislen
Dr. Jim Crago, Vice Chair Melissa Boldan, Committee Member
Dr. Greg Boyer, Committee Member Karen Jennings
Dr. Jessica Thiele Bryan Wolford
The Animal Shelter Committee met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 12:36 p.m. in
the Conference Room, Jefferson City Animal Shelter, 2308 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City Missouri. The meeting was
called to order by Dr. Popp, Chair. Roll call was taken. Dr. Boyer, Dr. Crago, and Dr. Boldan were present.
Approval of Minutes
Dr. Crago moved to approve the minutes from June 19, 2018 meeting and Dr. Boyer seconded.
Staff Reports
Captain Heislen was introduced to the board. Dr. Thiele reported the Foster Picnic is October 7th and invited the board.
She reported her Certificate in Shelter Medicine was completed. She will be going to Austin, Texas in October to learn
about Kitten Care and she just came back from Charleston learning about care management flow. Karen Jennings
reported the Fast and Furry 5K had 112 registrations. We are processing a lot of private cremations along with a lot of
deer right now, so our turnaround time is slower.
Review Written Correspondence
No written correspondence.
Old Business
The Community Cat Ordinance was voted to move to Public Safety Committee. Approved 4-0.
Increasing the board members and changing the requirements was approved 4-0 and is moved on to the Public Safety
Committee.
New Business
Dr. Melissa Boldan was appointed to replace Dr. Popp at the City Council meeting last night. Board members took a tour
of the entry area with Dr. Thiele.
