A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A POLICY FOR ELECTRONIC FUNDS
TRANSFERS AND ONLINE BANKING FOR THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE
WHEREAS, THE Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Greencastle finds it efficient and
necessary to use Automatic Clearing House payment(ACHs)and Electronic Funds Transfers
(EFTs) including online banking transfers for payments and deposits,pursuant to Indiana Code
36-1,8-11.5;
WHEREAS, the Indiana Code allows payments to be made for claims, bonds, and
other lawful purposes for municipalities, its departments and utilities through the use of
ACHs and EFTs.
NOW THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GREENCASTLE hereby authorizes the Clerk-Treasurer and the Clerk-Treasurer's
designees to make payments on behalf of the municipality, its executive departments and its
utilities for any lawful purpose by any of the following financial instruments:
1. Check;
2. Electronic bank draft;
3. Money order;
4. Bank card or credit card;
5. Electronic funds transfer;
6. Wire funds or automated clearing house (ACH); and
7. Any other financial instrument authorized by the fiscal body and allowed
under the Indiana Code.
Be it further resolved that the Clerk-Treasurer is also authorized to use online transfers
for the purpose of transferring funds to the proper Accounts Payable fund, checking account
or other account in the process of paying claims/invoices.
Be it further resolved that the Clerk-Treasurer shall maintain adequate documentation
of the above-reference transactions for future audits, as provided by law.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its
Emergency Meeting this nit^ day of Myr , 2021.
