Call to Order; Roll Call
Mayor William Dory called the meeting to order at 11:33 AM; upon roll by the Mayor, the
following were present: Adam Cohen (ZOOM), Veronica Pejril (ZOOM), Dave Murray
(ZOOM) and Jacob Widner (ZOOM.) City Attorney Laurie Hardwick was also present.
II. New Business
A. Meeting Between Common Council and DPU Management Fellows
The Management Fellows Program was represented by Paige Sanfelippo, Grant
Theisen, and Peter Skaluba. After meeting with their advisor, the students
offered to undertake a project to look at recruiting citizens to serve on various
boards and commissions. The project will run through the end of the semester.
Comments were made that the focus should be on developing communication
methods to get information to constituents as many no longer use traditional
media to obtain information about local opportunities, news or events. The idea
might be to develop a communications plan that could be scaled up to other city
activities.
The city will provide information about current appointments, Indiana Code
related to appointments, and other background information. The students intend
to reach out to other communities for examples of best practices.
Several ideas were discussed such as job descriptions, videos, term limits, and
local media outlets.
Councilor Widner will serve as a liaison with the students. Regular update
meetings will be scheduled.
III. Adjournment
Motion by Jacob Widner to end the meeting at 12:04 PM, second by Veronica Pejril, 4-0
motion carried.
