PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the City of Riverdale has over the years been under many jurisdictions which are being highlighted this
year as part of a series of proclamations.
WHEREAS, on June 4`h, 1812, a few days after the State of Louisiana was formed, and to prevent confusion,
Congress renamed the remainder of Louisiana Territory, including those lands which now include Riverdale, the
Territory of Missouri.
WHEREAS, the Missouri Territory, led from the City of St. Louis, was at least the 10`h iteration of European and
American ownership of the City of Riverdale
THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Anthony Heddlesten, Mayor of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, do hereby proclaim
that June 4`h as
MISSOURI TERRITORY D

In Riverdale, and encourage all staff, residents, and visitors to learn more about the history of the founding of our
region and those who first help establish our community.
