Marsh; Charles W. Bolen Subject: Legion Post 154 Back Room Ray, As you directed I am corresponding with you through CM's email address with DO and JL being out of the office. It is my understanding that the walls previously removed are to be replaced as standard non-loadbearing partition walls. These two walls merely broke up the "back" room into 3 separate storage rooms that all had access doors on the south side (closest to the main hall). Neither or these two walls touched or connected to any of the kitchen walls. The reason their being firewalls as they would serve no purpose as they do not continue to the ceiling and they stop short of the attic's south wall. It is also my understanding from you that at this time, while a 2 hour rated fire wall would add to safety, it is not required. By copy of this email I am relating to the past and current SAL Commander that all further renovations will be scrutinized for fire protection requirements. Specifically, any work on the kitchen or the kitchen walls may well require the entire kitchen be separated from the rest of the building by 2 hour fire walls. Ray, thank you f o r your time and p a t i e n c e. Upon your concurrence or clarification, we can have the drawing revised to allow the City to concur with these repairs moving forward.
