Call to Order 2. Acceptance of Minutes a. 7.30.14 – approved unanimously, Mark Stephan abstained as he was not present 3. Solar farm status a. Making progress, received a number of bids but can’t share info as yet until bid awarded. b. Expect to have recommendation to Norman in next two weeks. c. Selectman’s hearing after review with Norman. 4. Arrange tour of recycling with Harvey's a. Hoping that PTA will get actively involved with this. b. John Westerling will help coordinate, just need to give him times and dates. c. Target a Saturday or Friday in September. Will advertise to public. 5. Green Up day 2015 a. Proposing Green Up/Earth Day on May 2nd, 9-12. b. Get multiple committees involved, including bands at Common. i. Consider Hazardous Waste Day on same day c. Need to decide by mid-September to get into MetroWest Town Planner. d. Committee approves the date; Laura will now check with Parks and Rec regarding ability to use Town Common. 6. Textile recycling a. Getting monthly report, we are in lower 50%, ~1200 # in last month. b. Laura emailed relative to taking carpet but not sure they are doing that. 7. Recycling role a. Laura will follow-up with Norman and Jamie regarding expectations on overall involvement, including town contracts. Want to make sure we are not being held responsible for the recycling requirements that we are not part of. Need to clearly delineate what our role is. b. Should enhance town website to ensure it is as easy as possible for people to locate all recycling and recycling related issues. c. Jean suggested looking at how we can help people in town to opt out of paper advertisements and just use electronic versions. 8. Town Common Recycling a. Need feedback from John W re municipal containers for both trash and recycling. 9. Website update a. Laura will distribute link for everyone to review. b. First round may be a combined effort on comments. Bring comments to next meeting. c. Allow calendar to be modified by anyone on committee, not just one person. d. Time capsule for 350th anniversary – RFP for Solar Proposal, a light bulb, Green Communities Generation, Charging Station Pictures. b. Andy will contact Jean. 11. New Business a. Fin Perry/Steve Zief project off Elm Street; making presentation to Trails Club in September. May want to meet them to review the green aspects of their project. b. Charity Walk in Milford, sponsored by Mason’s for Heart Disease and Trail Development in our area, in September. c. John K will follow-up with Dave relative to grant money and projects; anything he needs from us. d. Environmental Bond Bill – Hopkinton gets $1.5 mil, funding trail development throughout state, not clear how this gets directed and by whom. Ken will follow- up with Elaine. e.
