HomeMy Public PortalAboutAssessors Board -- 2015-04-27 Minutes Town of Brewster 6Y � T� i!�` OFFICE OF: F a '� 2198 MAIN STREET BOARD OF ASSESSORS a D BREWSTER,MASSACHUSETTS 02631-1898 (508)896-3701 - = FAX(508)8961-8089 Vc ��1�111/lllllllfl111411111111111\\�\\� Board of Assessors Meeting April 27, 2015 Members Present: Belinda Eyestone, Diane Salomone and Howard Hayes Also attending was David Tately, Deputy Assessor Mr. Hayes called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. Old Business: The minutes for the meeting of December 10, 2014 were approved 2-0 (Ms. Eyestone abstaining), and the minutes for March 4, 2015 were approved 2-0 (Ms. Salomone abstaining), The Board voted unanimously to allow the applications for exemptions filed by Outer Cape Health Services and Pleasant Bay Community Boating. The intended uses for both organizations' properties met the exemption criteria. New Business: Mr. Hayes moved to convene Executive Session to discuss and vote on FY 2015 Real Estate Abatement Applications. Ms. Eyestone seconded. Roll call vote was taken to enter Executive Session at 5:51. Hayes-yes, Eyestone-yes, Salomone-yes. The Board exited Executive Session at 6:25. Mr. Hayes moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:25 p.m. Ms. Eyestone seconded, and it passed 3-0. Respectfully submitted, David H. Present: Assessors Hayes, Salomone and Eyestone, and Deputy Assessor David Tately The Executive Session was called to review and discuss Real Estate Abatement Applications. After discussion, the Board voted unanimously to grant the abatement application of the Brewster Community Solar Garden. The land was adjusted by changing the secondary lot valuation to residual land. The solar panels were determined to be exempt from taxation under GL Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 45, consistent with the most recent Appellate Tax Board case, Forrestal v. Town of Westborough. The property was abated $220,600. Mr. Hayes moved to adjourn Executive Session. Ms. Eyestone seconded. Roll call vote was unanimous to adjourn. Hayes-yes, Eyestone-yes, Salomone=yes.
