Town of Leesburg Launches Online Mapping Tool for Land Use
Applications
Leesburg, VA (October 7, 2014) – The Town of Leesburg recently launched a new web-based
mapping tool that provides public access to information about active rezoning, special
exception and Town Plan amendment applications.
The new Leesburg Interactive Application Map (LIAM) allows users to see the locations of all
active and recently approved land use applications within the Town at a quick glance. Users
can zoom in to better define locations, view thumbnail photos with brief descriptions of the
applications, and launch project pages with links to all applicant submittal and staff review
documents. From each project page, users can see the current status of that application and
contact information for the staff project manager. LIAM is available on the Town website at
www.leesburgva.gov/LIAM.
“The addition of LIAM to our public education toolbox allows us to more fully engage the public
in the land use planning process within the Town,” said Susan Berry-Hill, Department of
Planning and Zoning Director. “LIAM is just the latest in a series of initiatives that the Town has
implemented to increase government transparency surrounding land use decisions. Other
efforts include our quarterly e-newsletter P&Z News and the monthly Development Activity
Report, both of which are also available on the Town website.”
