A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ESTABLISHING
UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO 5
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of. the City of Temple City
as follows
1. A public hearing having been called for November 18, 1980,
at the hour of 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall,
Temple City, California, to ascertain whether the public necessity,
health, safety, or welfare requires the removal of poles, overhead
wires and associated overhead structures and the underground in-
stallation of wires and facilities for supplying electric, communi-
cation or similar or associated service as more fully shown on the
attached map marked Exhibit "A ";
2. Notice of such hearing having been given to all affected
property owners as shown on the last equalized assessment roll and
utilities concerned in the manner and for the time required by law:
3. Such hearing having been duly and regularly held, and all
persons interested having been given an opportunity to be heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City
hereby finds and determines that the public necessity, health, safety
and welfare require the removal of poles, overhead wires and associ-
ated structures, and the underground installation of wires and facili-
ties for supplying electric, communication, or similar or associated
service in the area generally bounded as follows:
By the center line of Las Tunas Drive (100 -feet wide);
the easterly right -of -way of Golden West Avenue (60-
feet wide); the northerly right -of -way line of Woodruff
Avenue (60 -feet wide); the westerly right -of -way line
of Kauffman Avenue (60 -feet wide); and an eight -foot
wide telephone utility easement, four -feet wide on
each side and parallel with the westerly property line
of Lot 95, Tract No.. 6561, Map Book No. 72, page 34,
records of Los Angeles County;
more fully shown on map marked Exhibit "A ", and such described area
is hereby established as Underground Utility District No 5; such
streets or roadways, or rights -of -way are extensively used by the
general public and carry a heavy volume of pedestrian or vehicular
traffic.
Section 1. The following exceptions in said Underground Utility
District No. 5 are authorized:
(a) Any municipal facilities or equipment installed
under the supervision and to the satisfaction
of the City Engineer.
(b) Poles, or electroliers used exclusively for
street lighting.
(c) Overhead wires (exclusive of supporting structures)
crossing any portion of a District within which
overhead wires have been prohibited, or connecting
to buildings on the perimeter of a district; when
such wires originate in an area from which poles,
overhead wires and associated overhead structures
are not prohibited.
(d) Overhead wires attached to the exterior surface of
a building by means of a bracket or other fixture
and extending from one location on the building to

another location on the same building or to an
adjacent building without crossing any public street.
(e) Antennae, associated equipment and supporting struc-
tures, used by a utility for f=urnishing communication
services
(f) Equipment appurtenant to underground facilities, such
as surface mounted transformers, pedestal mounted
terminal boxes and meter cabinets, and concealed ducts.
(g) Temporary poles, overhead wires and associated overhead
structures used or to be used in conjunction with con-
struction projects.
Section 2, All poles, overhead wires and associated overhead
structures shall be removed and underground installations made in
said Underground Utility District within the following times:
(a) Underground installation by utility companies and
property owners and reconnections not later than
November 15, 1981.
(b) Removal of poles, overhead wires and other associated
structures not later than December 1, 1981.
Section 3. All utility companies operating within the Utility
District No. 4, as shown on the attached map, and all owners of
property located within such area are hereby instructed and directed
to carry out the terms of this Resolution as above set forth and
pursuant to Ordinance No. 68 -265; failure to do so will incur the
sanctions and penalties as set forth in Ordinance No. 68 -265, passed,
approved and adopted Detailed instructions for property owners on
the removal of above - ground facilities and installation of underground
utilities in connecting from utilities to private buildings are
available in the Office of the City Engineer.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Clerk, within ten (10) days
after the adoption of this Resolution. shall mail a copy hereof and
a copy of Ordinance No. 68 -265 to affected property owners as such
are shown on the last equalized roll and to the affected utilities.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution
APPROVED and ADOPTED this 18th day of November, 1980

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted by
the City Council of the City of Temple City at a regular meeting held
on the 18th day of November, 1980, by the following vote of the Council;
