PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, on August 10, 2021, Emma Hupp proposed an Eagle Scout project to the Council of
the City of Riverdale; and,
WHEREAS, said project consisted of erecting three flagpoles at the northwest corner of Manor
Drive and State Street on which to fly the flags of the United States of America, the State of
Iowa, the City of Riverdale, and the Riverdale Fire Department; and,
WHEREAS, the goal of Emma Hupp's project was to pay tribute to the over 100 years of
combined volunteer service to the Riverdale Fire Department by her father, Eric Hupp, her
grandfather, Dale Hupp, and her great grandfather, Laverne Wegmann; and,
WHEREAS, on September 14, 2021, Council passed Resolution No. 2021-41: A Resolution
Endorsing and Pledging Support for Emma Hupp's Scouts BSA Eagle Scout Rank; and,
WHEREAS, on July 17, 2022, Emma Hupp successfully completed the installation of her Eagle
Scout project as described above; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Riverdale recognizes the hard work and commitment it took to see this
project to fruition and commends Emma Hupp for her dedication and perseverance.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Anthony Heddlesten, Mayor of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, and
Eagle Scout No. 299 of the Gamehaven Council, do hereby proclaim that July 26th is
lUPPJWEGMNN DAY
in Riverdale, and encourage all staff, residents, and visitors to embrace future Eagle Scout Emma
Hupp and congratulate her for her accomplishment and thank the Hupp-Wegmann family for
their century of service to our community.
