Mr. Hart moved that his request be granted, seconded by Mr. Beatty and unani— mously voted. There being no further business, on motion of Mr. Faulkner, seconded by Mr. Hart, the meeting was adjourned. ATTEST: Village Clerk COUNCIL ,MINUTE:; May 26, 1962 The Council of Bal harbour Village met at 9:30 A.'L., Saturday, May 26, 1962 at the Village fall. Present: Messrs. Beatty, Faulkner, Hart and White. Also present were W. H. Webb, Village Manager; Mary T. Wetterer, Village Clerk; Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney. Upon motion of Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Hart, the minutes of the previous meeting of April 2e, 1962 were approved as submittea. The Council discussed filling the vacancy created by Mr. Broeman' resignation. After consideration Mr. Beatty moved that a committee be appointed to ask sir. Edwin 0, Kirkeby to serve as 2ouncilman for the balance of Mr. Broeman's term until the election in .April, 1963. Ur. Rene' Torrado was nameu as alternate if Mr. Kirkeby declined. The motion was seconded by Mr. Faulkner and unanimously voted. Mayor white ap— pointed Mr. Beatty and Mr. Faulkner to serve as the committee. The Village Manager advisea the Council that he had met with representatives from Bay Harbor Islands, Surfside, City of Miami Beach and the Southeastern Fire underwriters to discuss the possibility of joint fire protection. He said that among the recommendations made by the Underwriters was the necessity of increasing the water main supply pipes for Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands and Surfside. He showed the members a plan prepared by the City of Miami Beach Engineering Depart— ment with the suggested changes and explained the estimated total cost of a 20" supply line to be about $126,000.00, their proportionate share to be worked out by the three communities. Mr. Webb outlined the plan he thought should be followed to bring this situation before the Surf — side and Bay Harbor Islands Councils and suggested that as long as 129 Collins Avenue would be torn up this summer for other purposes, it would be most advantageous to have the lines installed at that time. Mr. Anderson reminded the Council that the financing could take some time and, therefore, suggested that immediate action be started. Mr. Faulkner moved they approve the plan outlined by Mr. Webb and ex— pressed the willingness on the part of the Village of Bel Harbour to join in the cooperative movement described by Mr. Webb with authority on the part of the Mayor to appoint the Village Manager and some member of the Village Council as representatives of the Village to work out the details of the plan and submit to the Council for final consideration. Mr. Hart seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. aayor White appointed Mr. Hart to work with Mr. Webb. Mr. Webb asked permission of the Council to spend $370.00 for a dock to be built at Area #4, Business Section o; Ba1 Harbour, for use by the Bal Harbour Village Police —Fire Patrol Boat. After discussion Mr. Hart moved the Village Manager be given permission to spend $370.00 from surplus for the building of this dock, seconded by Mr. Beatty and unanimously voted. The Village Manager advised the Council that the sanitary sewer line in front of the Americana Hotel and the Singapore Hotel is not adequate and said that after further study with our engineers he will report to the Council suggestions for the correction of this situation. Mr. Webb explained that each year a Chairman is appointed by the Mayor for the United Uations Day. Mayor '-white appointed Mr. Beatty to serve in this capacity. There being no further business, on motion of Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Hart, the meeting adjourned.
