HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0852ORDINANCE N0. 852 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING PARAGRAPH 6 OF SECTION 4.00 AND PARAGRAPH 8 OF SECTION 6.00 OF CITY ORDINANCE N0. 570 TO ADD POLITICAL SIGNS PURSUANT 'PO CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS AS A PERMISSIBLE USE IN RESIDENTIAL ZONES. Be it ordained; Section 1. Paragraph 6 of Section 4.00 of City Ordinance No. 570 shall read as follows: "One unlighted sign not exceeding six (6) square feet in area pertaining only to the following: a. Sale, lease, or hire of the particular building, property, or premises upon which displayed. b. The candidacy of a candidate or candidates as defined by Section 11501 of the Elections Code, provided however (1) that it shall be unlawful to erect said sign before the candidate has qualified to become a candidate in a pending election to a federal, state, county, judicial or district office, or to a municipal office in a general law city, at any election or primary conducted in this State. "Candidate" also includes persons seeking election to a County Central Committee at the direct primary election. (2) that the owner or occupant of the property upon which said sign was erected hereunder shall not later than the day following said election, remove said sign from said property. c. Any "measure" as defined by Section 42 of the Elections Code, provided, however: (1) That it shall be unlawful to erect said sign before said measure has officially been placed upon the ballot in a pending election. (2) That the owner or occupant of theproperty upon which said sign was erected hereunder shall not later than the day -1- following said election, .remove said sign from said property. "No other advertising signs, structures, or devices of any character shall be permitted in any R-1 one-family zone except as provided by Home Occupation licensing procedure." Sectioh 2. Paragraph 8 of Section 6 of City Ordinance No. 570 shall read as follows: "a. Identification signs not exceeding twenty (20) square feet in area for multiple dwellings, clubs, lodges, hospitals, institutions, and similar permitted uses. "b. Signs not exceeding twelve (12) square feet in area appertaining to the sale or rental of the property on which they are located. "c. The candidacy of a candidate or candidates as defined by Section 11501 of the Elections Code, provided however: (1) That it shall be unlawful'..to erect said sign before the candidate has qualified to become a candidate in a pending election to a federal, state, county, judicial or district office, or to a municipal office in a general law city, at any election or primary conducted in this State. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of .general circulation, printed, published, and circulated in the City of Lynwood. First read at the regular meeting of the City Council of said city held on the 17th day of September, 1968, and finally adoptred and ordered published at the regular meeting of said Council held on the 1st day o£ October, 1968, by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Nyork, Green, Siokos,'Smith,' Stevens.
