Minutes of Committee Meeting

June 30,2009
The June 30, 2009 meeting of the Orleans Renewable Energy/Wind Power Committee (REWP) was
Called to Order at 4:03PM in the Nauset Meeting Room of the Town Hall. Present were Chairman
Allen Kolchinsky, Committee members, Dave Hubbard,Victor Noerdlinger, Mary Jane Curran,
Dick Philbrick, and Bob McCoy. Committee member Ken Rowell was absent. BOS liaison John
Jannell was absent. Others present:None.
REWP Committee approved the minutes for the June 9, 2009 meeting.
Discussion of question that was voted on at June 9 meeting was corrected. The item was what was
listed in the draft as 3.18 but was in the Final as 4.18.
Correspondence; Allen brought up a letter for the discontinuation of the Clean Energy Choice
Program. There is a website with links to what the Final Regulations for the Mass. Renewable
Energy Trust will be.
Sherman Reed of the Orleans Gift House has asked the Committee for help on obtaining solar panels
for the roof of the gift house to supply power for a heater. Place is cold in the winter. Mary Jane
will call Liz Argo and others to explore funding for such a project. She will be in touch with Reed
and talk with him about her findings..
No Town employee or Committee could attend the June 24th DOE meeting. There should be
progress alerts and there is a U.S. Energy website where info is available.
There was a Renewable energy program by Mindy Todd on June 22 which gave much use full info.
Mary Jane mentions that contact with Steve Clarke that there are job openings for interns/fellows
with the State Energy Committee. Also that the State is taking a look at Conservation lands for
projects. In Southeastern MA, MMA and Camp Edwards are the only states lands identified now as-
potential sites for wind turbines. Steven indicated that his office will meet with Mass Highways to
discuss a potential project for Exit 12 in Orleans. He will notify us as soon as that meeting takes
place.
Chair to write op-ed to paper on info from Finial Report. Some PR!!!
Quick discussion on future meetings,when, how often, etc. Next meeting planned for July 14th.
