AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING
SECTION 8.1 OF THE LYNUd00D CITY CODE BY
ANI~NDING THE TITLE THERETO AIQD ADDING SUB-
SECTION (d) TO AUTHORIZE BUILDING INSPECTOR
TO CHARGE AND COLL;~:CT AN INSPECTION FEE IN
CERTAIN CASES.
The City Council does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Section 8.l of the Lynwood City Code is
amended to add subsection (d) and subparagraphs (1), (2), (3),
(~4) and (5) as, follows:
"(1) Inspectioh Fee Established. There is hereby
established a fee for all inspections and search of public records
of the Lynwood Building Department of the City and other public
records of the City to which the Building Inspector finds
necessary to .refer in completing his inspection and/or search.
This fee shall be based upon the time actually consumed by the
Building Inspector, his assistant or other employee of the
City in making the inspection and search, who shall keep written
record of his tune; that said .fee shall be .chargeable on an hourly
basis as follows: $7.5Q for the first hour, or fraction thereof
and $5.OO for each hour or fraction thereof thereafter.
"(2) Prepayment of es't'imate required. The Bulling
Inspector shall, at the request of any person for any information
whatever which requires an inspection and/or search by him, or
his assistant or other employee of the City of the records described
in subsection (1) make an estimate of the cost of said inspection
and/or search based upon the hourly rate prescribed by subsection
(1) her•eaf, that the person requesting the information shall
pay and the. Building Inspector shall. collect the amount of this
estimate prior to the inspection and/or search and at the time
the request for the information is made, that if the actual. cost
of the inspection and/or search after the inspection and/or search

is completed is less than the estimate, the Building Inspector
shall request by written memorandum to .the City Clerk that she
draw a voucher on tha City for payment to the person requesting the
information of the amount by which the. estimate exceeds the cost,
and upon receiving said written memorandum, the Clerk shall draw
the said voucher fortho,ith; that if the cost of the inspection and/or
search exceeds the. estimate, the difference shall be paid to the
Building Inspector prior to the communication of the information
requested to the applicant by the Building Inspector.
"(3) Summary, Upori Request. The Building Inspector
shall, upon .request of the applicant, make a brief written summary
of the information obtained by him fromcthe records and deliver
this summary to the applicant personally, or to his representative
or by ordinary mail, addressed. to his address furnished to the
Building Inspector at the time the request is made. There sha7.l
be no additional charge for this service.
"(4) Cdpies Not Included ih Fee for Inspectibh Aiid/or
Search. The .fees referred to in subsection (1) hereof shall not
include copies of public .records requested by applicant. All such
copies shall. either be_made by.::applcant;or his representative at
the Office of the Building Department, or the Building Inspector,
shall, upon the request of applicant quote to applicant the price
thereof and this price shall be paid by applicant and collected.

to applicant. The price shall be based upon the prevailing cost
to the City of copy materials plus 10%, plus the rental cost per
copy prevailing in the copying industry of photographing or
duplicating equipment plus 10%, and shall otherwise be within the
discretion of the Building Inspector.
"(5) Non-Public Records Uhavailable. Nothing herein
shall be .deemed to authorize. or permit the Building Inspector, to
reveal or furnish to any person except the City Manager, his

Administrative Assistant, or other duly authorized employee, or
Officer of the City, any record of the City., or information from
said record which under the law .does not constitute a public .record."
Seetioh 2. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the passage of this ardinance and to cause the
same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of
general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the
City o£ Lynwood.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
said City. held on the 6th day of June, 1g67, and finally adopted
and ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council held
on the .20th day of June, 19.67, by the following vote;
Ayes: Councilmen Eyork; Green; Siokos; Smith; Ste.vehs
Noes: Councilman None.
