HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0824C,~ c7 ~a~ ORDINANCE N0. $24 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNb100D ENACTING CHAPTER 17 LYNtid00D CITY CODE ENTITLED "HOUSING" CPROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORPi HOUSING CODE, 1964 EDITION, AND REGULATING HOUSING GENERALLY IN THE CITY. Be it ordained: Sectioh L The title to this Chapter of the Lynwood City Code shall be "HOUSING" and the Chapter thereof shall be numbered 17. Sectioh 2. Uniform Housing Code, 1864 Edition, adopted; appeal. ''(1) There is hereby adopted Section 17.1 of the Lynwood City. Code which shall' read as follows: "Uniform Housing Code adopted; where filed.; appeal. "(a) For the purpose of providing requirements for the c ~~ protection of life, limb, health, property, safety, and welfare of the general public and the owners and occupants. of residential buildings within the City, there is hereby,.,adopted by the City Council of the City that .certain code known as the Uniform ~ c Housing Code recommended by the International Conference of B~~ilding Officials', being particularly the 1864 Edition. iVot less than three copies of .the Code have been and now are filed in the Office of the Clerk of the City, and Lhe same, is hereby adopted. and incorporated as fully as i.f set out at .length herein, and from the date on which this section shall take effect, the provisions of the Uniform Housing Code shall be controlling with the City." "(b) Appeal. Within 30 .days after the Chief Building Inspector shall reject an application for a building permit or otherwise make a ruling adverse to the applicant or permittee, the applicant or permittee may file a written appeal with the City Clerk stating in .detail the reasons why the permit should 0 l ._ be granted or the ruling should not be reversed or modified, notwithstanding the Chief Building Inspector to the contrary. `"(c) Hearing on appeal. Within 24 .hours of the receipt of the written appeal, provided for by subparagraph (b) of this section, the City Clerk will advise the Chie£ Building Inspector of the appeal and within the same period will fix the date and time for the hearing of the appeal by the City .Council and notify the applicant 'or permittee by registered or certified mail and the Chief Building Inspector in writing, which date must not be more than 30 .days from the date the appeal is filed with the City Clerk." Sectioh 3. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same. to be published once in Lhe Lynwood Press, a .newspaper of general circulation printed and circulated. in the City of Lynwood.
