HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0806 ORDINANCE N0. 806 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING ORDINANCE N0. 802, AN INTERIM ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING CHAPTER VIII OF CITY ORDINANCE N0. 570 PROHIBITING THE OCCUPATION OR USE OF ANY BUILDING, LOT OR PARCEL OF LAND WITHIN CERTAIN BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED BY ANY PAWNSHOP, RETAIL ESTABLISHMENT SELLING, BARTERING OR TRADING IN SECONDHAND MERCHANDISE WHETHER OR NOT NEW MERCHANDISE IS ALSO SOLD, BARTERED OR TRADED IN SAID RETAIL STORE OR ESTABLISHMENT, AUTOMOBILE SERVICE STATIONS, AND PLACES WHERE INTOXICATING LIQUORS ARE SOLD PENDING STUDIES BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW CENTRAL RETAIL SALES AND BUSINESS DISTRICT ZONE OF A MORE HIGHLY RESTRICTIVE NATURE THAN THE EXISTING C-2 ZONE. The City Council of the City of Lynwood does ordain as follows: Section 1. After Notice pursuant to Section 65858 of the Government Code and public hearing held this 20th day of September, 1966, City Ordinance No. 802, to which reference is made for greater particularity, is extended for one year. Section 2. The City Council pursuant to the provisions of Section 65858 of the Government Code deems that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public safety, health and welfare that this ordinance go into immediate effect for the following reasons: Pursuant to the request of the City Council the City Attorney has prepared a City Ordinance amending certain portions of Ordinance No. 570 (Zoning Ordinance) to provide a new zone and/or district designated "Planned Business Zone," which is the same City Ordinance referred to in Section 3 of said City Ordinance No. 802, and which is intended to provide the retail core areas of certain Central Business Districts within the City with uses to be intevsive in nature. The City Council, as heretofore. stated in City Ordinance No. 802, referred the proposed City Ordinance to the Planning Commission for the purpose of studies for the purpose of making recommendations to the City Council. The Planning Commission has r i completed its studies and has recommended to the City that the City Ordinance as prepared by the City Council be adopted. In as much as the City Ordinance as prepared by the City Attorney has been presented to the City Council for the first time in final form on this date, and will require two readings and become effective 30 days after adoption. The City Council pursuant to said Section 65858 of the Government Code adopts this ordinance extending City Ordinance No. 802 prohibiting the uses described therein as an urgency ordinance. Section 3• The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Lynwood.
