Town of Leesburg Recognizes Wyks Family and Cub Scout Pack
982 with 2014 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Award
Leesburg, VA (November 21, 2014) – The Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC)
is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 John W. Tolbert, Jr. Environmental
Achievement Awards. This awards program recognizes students, community groups, and
individuals that conduct or participate in activities that benefit the Town’s environment. The
Leesburg Town Council will present the awards at the Council Meeting on December 9, 2014.
This year the family of Rob and Amy Wyk’s and scout pack 982 are recipients of the Tolbert
Environmental Achievement Award for their sustained effort over the years leading clean-ups
for the Keep Leesburg Beautiful campaign. Every year the Wyks have organized scout pack
participation making sure individuals are registered, understand safety precautions, and have
the bags and gloves to complete their litter pick up along Leesburg’s roads. In total hundreds of
hours have been donated in this community pride effort to help ensure Leesburg looks its best.
The Town is thankful for the community service efforts of all this scout pack and all of the
scouting groups that participate.
Joe Sanchez chair of the Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission noted that “The Wyks
family and cub scout pack 982 have done Leesburg a wonderful service. We are lucky to have
numerous scout leaders and scouting groups who do great work in maintaining and improving
Leesburg’s natural environment.”
The EAC and the Leesburg Town Council will host a brief ceremony to present the 2014 Tolbert
Awards on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the
beginning of the Council’s regular meeting in the Council Chambers at Town Hall (25 West
