PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Firefighter Brian Ballard served the Riverdale Fire Department (RFD) from 2007 to 2021; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard, while demonstrating excellent firefighting skills and leadership abilities, was
promoted to Assistant Fire Chief during his tenure on the RFD; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard has been an advocate for advanced training for all firefighters; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard has initiated and engaged in successful fundraising endeavors for the RFD
including grant writing, merchandise sales, and on -site events; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard played an integral role in the financial management of the RFD; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard displayed many notable acts of heroism during his tenure on the RFD; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard has actively and passionately worked to increase the RFD's visibility in the
community; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard acted in the best interests of the RFD and the citizens of Riverdale; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard is a friend to the Riverdale community; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard was instrumental in Analiese Chapman's post-humous Firefighter of the Year
award; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard was vital in organizing an Honor Flight reception that honored veterans
engaging in the event; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter Ballard was always willing to lend a hand, whether in the execution of his duties as
Assistant Fire Chief, or as a friend; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Riverdale was fortunate to have such a dedicated firefighter who served and
protected the citizens of our community; and,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, I, Anthony Heddlesten, Mayor of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, do
hereby proclaim September 27, 2022, as
FIREFIQUER BRIAN BALLARD DAY
in Riverdale, Iowa, and commend Firefighter Brian Ballard for his contributions to the Riverdale Fire
Department and the community he tirelessly served from 2007 to 2021.
